Philly Fun

I was in Philadelphia for ten days doing two back-to-back shows for work. The city recently updated their convention center so I get to do three shows there this year. After last year’s show headaches, I was not too thrilled to be back twice within two months this year.

However, there was one redeeming quality about Philadelphia that I discovered: FOOD! Especially the close proximity of the convention center to the Reading Terminal Market.  I could eat here every day. Fresh Produce.  Vegan friendly options everywhere. Restaurants with locally sourced, organic ingredients. After the long days walking and standing, it was nice to feed my body healthy, delicious food, unlike the normal overpriced, bland convention center/hotel food I normally get to enjoy.

Bananas from the market to go with packed oatmeal + peanut butter for breakfast:

Veggie Juice (carrot-apple-spinach)!

Vegan Philly Cheese Steak (soooo good – made with seitan and soy cheese):

Falafel with Tabbouleh Salad! (and more juice… :)):

I also finally made it to the Liberty Bell this trip. Getting a chance to see a little history up close helps with one’s perspective in the middle of two stressful shows.

I am now looking forward to heading back to the city of brotherly love in a month. Yes, I still have headaches with the labor unions, but that can all be redeemed through a cup of fresh veggie juice. And a visit to the Liberty Bell.
